Tbilisi State Medical University was founded on February 18, 1918 in the beautiful city of Tbilisi and officially began its education this year. One of the founders of Tbilisi Medical University was Professor Petre Melikishvili, who commented on the opening of the university at a meeting of the Georgian Medical and Physical Sciences Association in 1917. The university initially operated under the name of Medical Institute, but in 1930, the medical institute was renamed Tbilisi State Medical University. Faculties

Currently, there are five faculties in the medical university: Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Dentistry, Faculty of Pharmacy, Faculty of Public Health, Faculty of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

Faculty of Medicine

This Faculty offers general medicine. The language of instruction in this Faculty is English. This course lasts for about 6 years, during which the training is offered to students in the form of internships and theory. 2 years out of these 6 years, the main courses are theoretically taught to students to have a clear mentality about the field of medicine, after which 1 year is dedicated to the pre-clinical course and 3 years to the clinical course. Students graduate from a general medical school with a doctorate.

Faculty of Dentistry

The language of instruction at this school is English, just like at the medical school. The duration of study is 5 years. Students will be given a general dental doctorate upon completion and graduation.

Faculty of Pharmacy

The duration of study for pharmacy is 5 years. Studying in the Faculty of Pharmacy allows students to greatly increase their pharmaceutical knowledge with the equipment, facilities and experienced staff of this faculty and become an experienced pharmacist.
